Mr Sie, during esterification, how does sulfuric acid shift the position of equilibrium? I thought catalysts don't affect the position of equilibrium?
My answer :
Sulfuric acid is not only act as catalyst. Sulfuric acid releases H+. It increases the concentration of acid. Equilibrium will shift.
